Taiwanese Contemporary Artist 陳呈毓 Chen Chen-Yu is a highly accomplished and widely exhibited Digital Artist who integrates his expertise in sculpture and video with the most recent frontier technologies of AI and Glitch Art.
His award-winning artworks (he’s won the illustrious Taipei Art Award twice!) emerge from his unique sense of humor, a bit of fleshy body-horror, and serious considerations about our lives in technological times. His work playfully questions ‘techno-capitalism’ through the social and political conditions we often take for granted. Does cloud computing poison us the same way that industrial pollution from manufacturing does when carried across the winds and oceans of Asia? As he says, our bodies are “a sticky, dynamic interplay of ideologies… a mix of sweet granules and saliva-coated fantasies… how quickly they will dissolve.”

Francoise Gamma, INA VARE, haydiroket, LUREX, desultor, Chen Chen Yu, GlitChess, Sue Su Su, and Egothy created new Animated GIFs for this exhibition as 1/1 one of ones and in limited editions. The Vending Machine is a unique experience on Tezos in which you pull from the machine by paying for either one or three random artworks. The surprise of what Digital Art you will receive when you vend is similar to ガシャポン (pronounced ‘gashapon’) or ガチャポン (‘gachapon’) machines originating in Japan and extremely popular in Taiwan where these toy and collectable dispensing machines are called 轉蛋機 or just 轉蛋 which literally translates to “turning egg machine.”
