Kristina X, from 鬼鎮 (Ghosttown), came thru our Glitch Art Gallery today, this Glitch Western Wednesday. * KX shares sum of her thoughts && feels on the new show, the Glitch Western Rodeo roundUp, Episode 1 *

she thinks we should share sum thoughts on how the “Rodeo roundUp” is an intentionally problematic construct that we use in the context of Glitch Western && we agree!

as the Bard AI says: “The word ‘round up’ in the Western context of the United States originated from the Spanish word “rodeo,” which means “to round up or gather.” The Spanish brought the word to the Americas with them when they colonized the Southwest in the 16th century.

In the early days of the American West, cattle ranchers would use the term “round up” to describe the process of gathering their herds of cattle for branding, doctoring, or shipping. The round up would typically involve a group of cowboys riding out on horseback to drive the cattle into a corral or enclosure.

The round up was a dangerous and demanding task, and it required the cowboys to be skilled horsemen and trackers. The round up was also a time for the cowboys to socialize and compete with each other in rodeo events.”
