Glitch Art is like all Art, if the artist says this is Art, then it is
TRASH ART has much in common && many intersections wit Glitch Art
&& all categories leak (like TRASH && Glitch, both vry leaky ;)
+these 2 categories in particular are not mutually exclusive bc both are radically inclusive

Glitch Art + TRASH ART are both leaky +they both leak for many reasons. both categories are messy, made of messes, made of making messes, +so cannot be contained; altho TRASH ART does love its containers ;)
TRASH ART also wants to leak

you want to make TRASH ART? JUST FXN DO IT! IN ALL CAPS! thats purty Punk Rock yawl. that kinda response && open entry to inclusion in a category
TRASH ART and Glitch Art _want_ to leak, _want_ to be messy bc thats part of the Art && the art-making process of the ppl who make the art

“glitch adjacent” is a term im vry familiar w/. these terms can be useful to ppl defining their own involvements with Glitch Art as long as we remember that the terms are or should be self-selected. if someone says that theyre “glitch adjacent” i take it to mean that they want to have that kind of extended relationship to Glitch Art but dont wanna be too close to it, which is cool. boundaries yawl.
still, if someone else addresses you or your work as “glitch adjacent” or even “fake glitch” etc, then steer clear of that person && their descriptions of yr work. as William S. Burroughs says in his Words of Advice for Young People:
“If, after having been exposed to someone’s presence
You feel as if you’ve lost a quart of plasma
Avoid that presence
You need it like you need…
