This festival focuses on Digital Art. What does that mean?
What powers Digital Art?
Electricity.
Compute.
What is Analog?
We are analog creatures who are constantly changing.
We are mostly made of water, which moves in waves.
We created the electrical machines that we refer to today as analog technologies.
We did not create electricity. We learned to use electricity, a natural force, to power machines that we made.
Analog technologies predate digital technologies. If you were born before the late 1990s or 2000s you remember when technologies were predominantly analog.
If you were born during the 2000s, you were born into the 21rst Century when technologies and experiences have become predominantly digital.
Today, we live in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, happening now, in the 2020s.
The First Industrial Revolution changed the world during 1760–1830s.
This is when humans began to create machines that we would recognize as foundational technologies today. More machines which you would recognize as technologies, become widespread during the 1800s.
